Founded in 2020, MAFA, endorsed by ​Pesuruhjaya Sukan Malaysia, aims to ​encourage a healthier and more active ​lifestyle nationwide by promoting diverse ​fitness sports.

MAFA Objectives


  • Introduce New Fitness Sports: We promote new fitness sports nationwide.
  • Offer Educational Programs: We conduct various educational activities related to sports ​and fitness.
  • Organize Fitness Events: We manage and promote fitness activities throughout Malaysia.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. ​Hajah Mastura ​Johar

President of MAFA and Deputy ​Technical Chairman of Aerobic ​Gymnastics Malaysia

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hajah Mastura Johar ​boasts over 35 years of experience as a ​trainer, coach, motivator, speaker, ​panelist, and advisor at both national and ​international levels. Her expertise spans ​several areas, including fitness, aerobics ​dance and group exercises, physical ​health and total wellness, judging and ​coaching, personal training, stress ​management and therapy, psychological ​health, motivation and team building, ​and the philosophy that health is wealth.


She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) ​in Sports Science, a Master’s in ​Education in Sports Science, and a ​Bachelor of Business Administration ​(Hons.) from Universiti Putra Malaysia ​(UPM). Additionally, she earned a ​Diploma in Fitness & Health from the ​Canadian Health, Physical Education & ​Recreation Association and a Diploma in ​High-Performance Sports from the Asian ​Gymnastics Union in Korea.


Her professional journey includes ​significant roles at Universiti Tenaga ​Nasional (UNITEN) from 1998 to ​November 2019, where she served as an ​Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, ​member of the University Senate, Head ​of the Department of Co-Curriculum & ​Personal Development, and Senior ​Trainer in Co-Curriculum. Before that, ​she was a Coordinator and Senior ​Trainer in Civil Engineering at Kumpulan ​IKRAM Sdn. Bhd. from 1997 to 1998, ​and a Coordinator and Trainer in Civil ​Engineering at the Public Works ​Department from 1979 to 1997.


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hajah Mastura Johar's ​fitness qualifications and certifications ​include being a certified Train the ​Trainers HRDF by the Ministry of ​Finance, a Master Trainer in Fitness and ​Aerobics Group Exercise by the Ministry ​of Youth and Sports Malaysia, a qualified ​Fitness Personal Trainer and Group ​Exercise instructor by NESTA ​USA/ACHPER AUSTRALIA, an Aerobic ​Gymnastics Academy Level 2 Coach and ​Judge by the Federation International ​Gymnastics (FIG) Academy, and ​certification in Civil Engineering by the ​Public Works Institute.


With a comprehensive background in ​both academia and practical training, ​Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hajah Mastura Johar is ​a leading figure in the field of fitness and ​wellness, bringing extensive knowledge ​and dedication to her roles in the ​industry.

Dr. Haji Mardian ​Shah Omar

Deputy President of MAFA and ​Technical Chairman of Aerobic ​Gymnastics Malaysia

Dr. Mardian Shah Omar is a Senior ​Lecturer at the Academy of Malay ​Studies, University of Malaya. He holds a ​Bachelor's Degree from Universiti Sains ​Malaysia (USM), a Master of Arts (MA) ​from the University of Leeds, United ​Kingdom, and a Ph.D. from the National ​University of Malaysia (UKM).


Dr. Mardian began his involvement in ​sport aerobics in 2002. He attended the ​Olympic Academy of Malaysia course in ​2003 at Universiti Malaya. In 2005, he ​represented Malaysia at the FIG ​International Judges Course for Aerobic ​Gymnastics (AER) in Manila, passing ​under Category 4. He further advanced ​his judging credentials in 2013 in ​Bangkok, Thailand, achieving Category 3 ​status. This certification and licensure ​from the Fédération Internationale de ​Gymnastique (FIG) qualify him to serve ​as an international judge.


Appointed by the Malaysian Gymnastics ​Federation (MGF) as the Technical ​Chairman of Malaysian Aerobic ​Gymnastics since 2005, Dr. Mardian ​Shah has attended and passed the ​Aerobic Gymnastics Academy (Level 1) ​course in Eaubonne, France, and later ​Level 2 in Hanoi, Vietnam, in 2019. ​During the Hanoi course, he was ​recognized as the Best Student in the ​Male Category and ranked fourth ​overall. His expertise led him to judge at ​the SEA Games in Manila in 2005 and ​Korat, Thailand, in 2007. In November ​2011, he earned a diploma from the ​Common Training Camp Aerobic ​Gymnastics Coaches program in Busan, ​Korea.


Dr. Mardian Shah has significantly ​contributed to the development of ​Aerobic Gymnastics in Malaysia. He ​coached the UKM aerobics team, leading ​them to victory and runner-up positions ​at MASUM 2007. Nationally, his UKM ​aerobics team won the National Fitness ​competition in 2005 and 2007. His ​efforts earned him the 2004 Malaysia ​Universities Sports Council (MASUM) ​Special Award and the UKM Best Sports ​Coach Award in 2005. Additionally, he ​has collaborated with the Ministry of ​Youth and Sports to promote and ​develop sport aerobics in Malaysia.


With his extensive background and ​numerous accolades, Dr. Mardian Shah ​Omar remains a pivotal figure in ​advancing the sport of aerobic ​gymnastics in Malaysia and beyond.

Coaching ​Course

MAFA offers a comprehensive Coaching ​Course for Aerobic Gymnastics (AER), ​designed to equip fitness enthusiasts ​and professionals with the necessary ​skills and knowledge to excel in this ​dynamic discipline.

The course covers a wide range of ​topics, including aerobic gymnastics ​techniques, choreography, music ​selection, competition rules, and safety ​guidelines.


Participants will have the opportunity to ​learn from experienced coaches and ​educators in the field, ensuring a high-​quality learning experience. Upon ​successful completion of the Coaching ​Course, individuals will receive a ​certification accredited by MAFA, ​empowering them to lead and train ​others in the exciting sport of Aerobic ​Gymnastics.

Judging ​Course

The MAFA Judging Course for Aerobic ​Gymnastics (AER) is a comprehensive ​program designed to equip participants ​with the necessary skills and knowledge ​to judge AER competitions effectively.

This course covers the technical rules ​and regulations set by the International ​Gymnastics Federation (FIG) specific to ​AER, including criteria for evaluating ​performances, deductions, and routine ​requirements.


Participants will also learn about judging ​protocols, scoring systems, and ​practical judging exercises to enhance ​their judging abilities. Upon successful ​completion of the course, participants ​will receive a certification accredited by ​MAFA, allowing them to officiate AER ​competitions with confidence and ​proficiency.

Choreography ​Workshops

MAFA offers Choreography Workshops ​for Aerobic Gymnastics (AER), providing ​participants with the opportunity to ​enhance their skills in creating dynamic ​and engaging routines.


These workshops are led by ​experienced choreographers who guide ​attendees in exploring creative ​movement sequences, music selection, ​and performance techniques tailored ​specifically for AER competitions. ​Participants will learn how to design ​routines that showcase their strength, ​flexibility, and artistic expression while ​adhering to the specific requirements ​and scoring criteria of AER ​competitions. By attending MAFA's ​Choreography Workshops for AER, ​athletes can elevate their performance ​level and stand out in the highly ​competitive world of aerobic ​gymnastics.
